HO Scale Railroad Models . . . (Personal Collection)
I grew up in Raleigh and lived between Five Points and the old Norfolk Southern yard till I was 7 years old, then we moved out in the country on Edwards Mill Road when it was still a two lane dirt road then. I remember the hobby shop in Cameron Village and the movie theater just around the corner. I always had a interest in HO scale trains since I was a kid, been in and out of the hobby 2 or 3 times in my life. My uncle was a conductor for the Seaboard Air Line Railway and a neighbor who lived across the road from us was a engineer on the SAL. I remember many times going to the Seaboard Train Station in Raleigh with my family to meet family friends or seeing them off, either to or from Florida.
After getting back in the model train hobby lately I acquired a interest in a few of the past railroads around here. I remember years ago going to the D&S tracks in Apex, NC and following them down to Dunn, NC. Some of these are in my display case, others boxed on the shelf.
In early 2011 I acquired two Stewart Baldwin undecorated RS-12
and the special handrails from Bowser.
Added left front underframe Bell, brass air horns and front brass marker lights.
